Open House New York invites developers, architects, designers, engineers, environmentalists, contractors, and others to submit projects for The New ReUse in Architecture, a special series of open house tours presented as part of the 2017 Open House New York Weekend (OHNY Weekend) on October 14 and 15, 2017 as part of Getting to Zero.
As part of this year’s Weekend, Open House New York will present a juried selection of projects that demonstrate the possibilities for innovative ways to think about and practice reuse. For the purposes of this series, we are especially interested in projects that have made innovative reuse of materials that might otherwise have gone to landfill, but individuals may choose to interpret reuse in the broadest sense possible. In their design and execution, projects should challenge how we commonly define “waste” and suggest new directions for recognizing waste as resource.
